Alice Holweger, 89, of Emerado, North Dakota died, Sunday, December 28, 2008 at the Hatton Prairie Village in Hatton, North Dakota.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm, Friday, January 2, 2009 in the Hatton Prairie Village Chapel in Hatton with burial in the Pleasant View United Methodist Cemetery near her home.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services.
Alice was born November 11, 1919 in Grand Forks, North Dakota the daughter of Pete and Susie (Bushaw) Sabe. She was raised and educated in Grand Forks graduating from Central High School. On November 11, 1939 she was united in marriage to Fred W. Holweger. They made their home in Pleasant View Township. Alice also worked outside the home, including many years at the Grand Forks Clinic where she worked until she was 75 years old. She was very proud of being employee of the year at the clinic.
Alice enjoyed spending her time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always took time to play with them and frequently bake and frost cookies with them. She enjoyed living on the farm and helping take care of the animals. Alice also was an avid reader enjoying history and romance novels and had a big interest in family history.
She is survived by her sons, Calvin (Charlotte) of Emerado, North Dakota, Larry (Toni) of Verona, Wisconsin; daughters, Lorraine (Lester) Hochhalter of Mott, North Dakota, Beverly (Van) Johnson of Beulah, North Dakota and Melody (Randy) Robbins of Fargo, North Dakota; grandchildren, Calvin (Kimberly) Holweger, Carla (Curt) Krueger, Cheryl (Bob) Simmons, Jill (Bill) Blickensderfer, Joan (Dave) Stordalen, Kari Thomas, Tad (Kimberly) Johnson, Cory Johnson, Tyson (Melissa) Johnson, Stuart (Toni) Holweger, Travis Merrill, Jason Merrill and Josh (Nicole) Merrill and three step granddaughters; twenty four great-grandchildren; sisters, Gladys Schmalenberg of East Grand Forks, Minnesota and Florence Moen of Grand Forks, North Dakota;
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Fred who died on March 29, 1983 and two brothers, Richard and Cecil.
The Bilden Funeral Home of Northwood is assisting the family with arrangements.
