Alice Onstad

Alice E. Onstad, 94, of Northwood, ND passed away Friday, June 28, 2013, at Northwood Deaconess Health Center. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the Zoar Free Lutheran Church, Hatton, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services at the church.
Alice Elizabeth Nygaard was born June 20, 1919, near Northwood, ND to Halvor and Ella (Bahr) Nygaard, where she grew up and attended school.
On November 6, 1939, she married Gilman Onstad at East Grand Forks, MN. After their marriage they farmed in Union Township in Grand Forks County. They were members of the Washington Prairie Church and the Zoar Free Lutheran Church. Gilman passed away on October 25, 2004.
She enjoyed spending time with her great granddaughters, gardening, and tending her flowers.
Survivors include her son, Richard (Diane) Onstad, Northwood; granddaughter, Carrie Onstad, Northwood; great granddaughters: Shelby, Skylar, and Brooke Carroll; twin sister, Hazel Monson, Hatton, ND; brothers: Kenneth (Violet) Nygaard, Portland, ND, Donald (Deanna) Nygaard and Ronald (Geraldine) Nygarrd, all of Northwood.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; sisters: Delores Nygaard, Lucille Fortman, and Maydell Tveten.
