Alton Rustad

Alton Rustad, 88, of rural Aneta, ND, passed away Friday, November 6, 2015 at his home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at 2:00p.m at Northwood Deaconess Health Center Dining Room Chapel, Northwood, ND. A visitation will be held from 1:00p.m until the time of the service at the dining room chapel.

Alton Rustad was born November 26, 1926 to Christopher and Annie (Kjos) Rustad. He grew up on a farm in the Aneta area and attended grade school and one room school near his home. Alton was confirmed on November 3, 1940 at West Union Church, rural Northwood.

On October 29, 1971, Alton married Betty Dietz at the Petersburg Lutheran Church, Petersburg, ND. He enjoyed farming, raising cattle, fishing and visiting over a cup of coffee. Alton also enjoyed his 7 great-grandchildren. He would always attend their birthday celebrations and participated in gathering candy from the piñata. He always had candy treats on hand when they would come to the farm to visit.

Survivors include his wife, Betty; grandchildren: Danielle (Ryan) Zins, Teresa (Mike) Benson, David (Karissa) Daws; great-grandchildren: Brynn, Megan, Zach, Brayden, Tucker, Graysen and Leightyn; sister, Lillian Solberg; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; step-son, Hubert Dietz; brothers: Arthur, Conrad and Torfin; sisters: Helen Berry, Palma Colis and Edna Ellingson.
