Ardell Bjerke

Ardell V. Bjerke, 84, of Hatton, ND passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 29, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Beaver Creek Lutheran Church, rural Hatton.

Ardell Olson was born June 20, 1938, on the family farm in Beaver Creek Township to Edwin and Alice (Walswick) Olson. On October 27, 1962, she married Parnell Bjerke at Beaver Creek Lutheran Church.

Ardell worked as a house cleaner and as the head cook at the Northwood Senior Center for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, baking, playing cards, visiting, and spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids. They all meant the world to her.

We were truly blessed with all of mom’s cooking and baking. No one ever left her home hungry. Her love of baking was one of her greatest passions, especially her infamous lefse and donuts.

Survivors include her children: LaRae (Jeff) Kuntz, Hillsboro, ND; Jane (Terry) Longtin, Grand Forks, ND; Lynn Bjerke, Hatton, ND; grandchildren: Lyndsey (Ty) Reinesch, McKenzie (Ross) Melby, Cody (Megan) Anderson and daughters, Ruby Rae and Lydia Elaine, Samantha Longtin, Jess Longtin (fiancé Cody) and Kayla Olson; twin sister, Arlene Darvell; sisters-in-law, Betty Olson, Gloria Alvarez, and Joyce Bjerke. Ardell is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Parnell, sisters, Gloria and Elaine; brothers, Gene and Glenn; sister-in-law, Edna.
