Arleen Funseth

Arleen Funseth, 93, of Northwood, ND passed away peacefully on June 13, 2016 at Northwood Deaconess Health Center, where she has resided for the past four years. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 17, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Northwood. A visitation will be held Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the church.

Arleen Margaret was born on January 19, 1923 to Eddie and Christine (Gylland) Robertsdahl, rural Christine, ND. The third oldest of nine siblings, she was baptized at North Pleasant Church, confirmed at South Pleasant Church, and attended Pleasant Consolidated School near Christine in Richland County where she enjoyed playing basketball. Following high school she attended Interstate Business College in Fargo. Arleen worked for the Superintendant of Nursing at St. Luke's Hospital in Fargo and also in the bookstore at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. She married Carlott Funseth at Hickson Lutheran Church on October 19, 1947. They made their home on their farm near Northwood, ND for 50 years until his death on February 17, 1998. They lived a simple life centered around family and church. Arleen was active in Ebenezer church with Sunday School, Bible Study and Ladies Aid. She enjoyed the friendships and getting together with her Homemaker's Club. Arleen thoroughly enjoyed her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always keeping up with their activities. Her mind was sharp and her remarkable memory was such a blessing to us until the end. Her detailed recollections never failed to amaze us. With a thankful heart we would often hear her say, "I've had a good life."

Arleen is survived by her three children: Gene (Rose), Northwood; Becky (Keith) Johnson, Sharon; and Curtis (JoAnn), Northwood; 9 grandchildren: Travis (Katie) Funseth, Tara Funseth, Kristina Funseth, Laura (Joel) Foss, Chris (Jennifer) Johnson, Jeremy (Lindsey) Johnson, Marie (Sean Beanland) Funseth, Kari (Jeremiah) Messner, and Kyle (Kathryn) Funseth; 12 great-grandchildren: Brett, Alicia, Shaycee, Azlynn, Roegen, Georgiann, Brynlee, Brevin, Rhett, Felicity, Gianna, and Everly. Also surviving are 4 sisters: Agnes Liudahl, Jordis (Hilbert) Baumgarten, Lenore (Dave) Frederickson, and Carolyn (Wally) Freeman, and 1 brother Wesley (Velora) Robertsdahl. She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant daughter, and infant great-granddaughter Lourdes Funseth; 2 brothers Clarence and Ellsworth Robertsdahl, 1 sister Edith Nord; and several brothers and sisters-in law.
