Arthur Wallace Thorsgard

October 24, 1928 — August 28, 2012

Arthur Wallace Thorsgard, age 83, passed away suddenly on August 28, 2012 at his home in Northwood, ND. He was born on October 24, 1928 to Arne and Clara (Markve) Thorsgard of rural Northwood. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from the Northwood High School in 1947. He served two years in the US Army during the Korean War, where he remained for over a year in active conflict.
Wallace attended Augsburg College for several years and also the Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis. He was an employee of the Minneapolis Post Office for 27 years.
Following retirement, Wallace enjoyed traveling, photography, and other interests but was especially involved with church activities and various religious organizations. His biggest interest by far was his relationship with the Lord. Much of his time, if not most of it, was spent reading the Bible and a great number of other religious books and material. Wallace, who was rather quiet and reserved, was an unusually kind man who never took advantage of other people. He had an easy smile and a good sense of humor.
Wallace was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Anna (Adolph) Kordahl and a brother Harold (Doris).
He is survived by two brothers: Enoch of Northwood and his twin brother Arne Willard of Hastings, MN; also by cousins and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 3, 2012 at 11:00a, at the Swarstad Chapel in Northwood. Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of the service.
