Clara Johnson

Clara Johnson, 93, of Northwood, ND passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2012, at the Northwood Deaconess Health Center, Northwood, ND. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at 10:30 a.m.at Beaver Creek Lutheran Church, rural Hatton, ND. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 28th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the Bilden Funeral Home, Northwood, ND. Burial in the Beaver Creek Cemetery.
Clara Bergit Beck was born March 23, 1919, at rural Hatton, ND to John and Minnie (Olson) Beck. She attended rural school near Hatton and was baptized and confirmed at Little Forks Lutheran Church.
On May 19, 1940, she married Norris A. Johnson. After their marriage they farmed and made their home in Beaver Creek Township. Norris passed away on October 13, 1988. Clara continued to live on the farm and later moved to Northwood. She was proud of obtaining her driver's license at the age of 73. For the past six years she was a resident of the Northwood Deaconess Health Center.
While a member of Beaver Creek Lutheran Church she held various offices in WELCA and also taught Sunday School for many years serving as superintendent for several of those years.
First and foremost she was a wife, mother, and grandmother. Nothing was more important to her than being a homemaker and raising a family. Her gentle unselfish ways won the hearts of all who knew her. She never put her own needs before others. With a "thank you" she always showed her appreciation for anything that was done for her. Her family was her greatest joy, evident by the smile on her face when her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were around.
Survivors include her children: Verna Stave, Northwood, Wayne (Mary) Johnson, Sharon, ND, Rose (Lynn) Teie, Thief River Falls, MN, Keith (Becky) Johnson, and Leslie (Marci) Johnson, all of Sharon, ND, Brian (Laurel) Johnson, Hatton, ND, and Tammy (Paul) Hofer, Northwood; 20 grandchilden; 16 great grandchildren; siblings: Gilman (Betty) Beck, Northwood, Carl (Darlene) Beck, Fargo, ND, and Shirley Beck, Portland, ND.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; brothers: Marvin, Tilman, Joseph, Einar, David, Thomas, John Jr., and Ernest; sisters: Blanche Amundson and Nathalie Brustad; and daughter-in-law: Patty Johnson.
