Cora Huus, 89, of Northwood, ND passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at her home in Northwood, surrounded by her family and the wonderful care of Hospice. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 9, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Hatton, ND. A visitation will be held Sunday, May 8, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the Bilden Funeral Home in Northwood.
Cora was born December 26, 1926 to Ingvold and Stina (Dahl) Lykken on the Bakken Farm, where she was also baptized. She attended rural school in Newbough Township. Cora was confirmed at the Zoar Lutheran Church in Hatton. She is now a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Hatton. On March 16, 1946, Cora married Morris Huus at El Paso, TX, where Morris was stationed in the army. Morris passed away on December 27, 1985. Six children were born to the marriage: Michael, Larry, Colleen, Cynthia, Kathy, and Mark. Cora worked as a CNA at Northwood Deaconess Health Center for 33 ½ years. She loved working outdoors in the garden, lawn, and flowers. Cora liked to make chocolate chip cookies for her grand and great-grandchilden.
Survivors include her three daughters: Colleen (Eddie) Vig, Cynthia (Richard) Berthold, Kathy (Roger) Thorvilson; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; special daughter-in-law, Connie Huus; two nephews, four nieces and the Tragaton cousins.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Ingvold and Stina Lykken; three sons: Michael, Larry, and Mark Huus; two brothers: Elmer and Kenneth Lykken; two sisters: Clenora Wagnon and Ellen Balstad; and grandson, Andy Abrahamson
