Curtis Lyste

Curtis Dale Lyste, 75, of Sharon, ND, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2024, at Hatton Prairie Village in Hatton under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley, after a nine year battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Beaver Creek Lutheran Church, rural Hatton. A visitation will be held Tuesday, July 23, 2024, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service at the Hatton Prairie Village Chapel in Hatton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley, 1701 38th St. S., Suite 101 Fargo, ND 58103, or Hatton Prairie Village, 950 Dakota Ave, Hatton, ND 58240.

Curtis Dale Lyste was born November 12, 1948 in Northwood, ND, the only son of 6 children, to Orlo and Ruth Lyste. After losing his father to cancer when he was only 10, Curtis quickly became the man of the house.

He attended Beaver Creek #2 country school through fourth grade. He graduated from Sharon High School in 1966. At age 16, he started farming on his own. On July 23, 1971, he married Nancy Larson in Sharon, ND. They raised their four children on the farm in rural Sharon. Their four children continue the family farm.

Curtis served on several area boards. He enjoyed playing cards, watching auction sales and sporting events, and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; Children, Brian (Renee), Brent, Tim (Desirae), Melanie (Harley) Abrahamson, all of Finley, ND, four grandchildren, and three step grandchildren; Sisters Carol (Glen) Holland, Eileen (Rich) Winning, Ione Hageberg, Judy (Steve) Wold, and Maribeth (Scott) Saeger; Brother-in-law Daniel (Jerolynn) Larson, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Father-in-law Oriel Larson, Mother-in-law Bernice Larson.
