David Knudtsen

David Knudtsen, 88, of Northwood, ND passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Northwood Deaconess Health Center in Northwood. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Northwood. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a mission of your choice.

David Edward Knudtsen, only child of Emma (Jung) and Edward Knudtsen was born April 8, 1927 in De Forest, Wi, where he attended school and grew to manhood. He joined the Merchant Marine in 1944 and sailed for a year on Liberty ships. Next, he attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN where he met the love of his life, Jeanne Bilden. They married on June 7, 1948.

Dave began his career with Household Finance as a clerk in 1951 and completed 33 years, retiring as senior vice president at age 55. With his numerous advancements, Dave and family moved 15 times in 17 years. Dave and Jeanne's early retirement years were spent in California, Texas and Florida. In 1988, they moved to Northwood.

Dave's quick wit and zest for life will be missed by friends and family. He enjoyed multiple hobbies including hunting, fishing, golfing and cooking. He loved listening to classical music in his car and smoking a big cigar! He had a passion for world travel. He also loved the Green Bay Packers and the latest electronic gadgets.

Left to mourn his passing are his children: Kathy Snortland, Langdon, ND; Steve (Alberta) Knudtsen, Chiang Mai, Thailand; Nancy (Fred) Huber, Greenville, SC; grandchildren: Chris (Andrea) Snortland and children, Lily and Amelia; Steve (Marsha) Snortland, and children Emi and Keiko; Grant Huber, Heather Knudtsen and Krista Knudtsen.

Preceded him in death were his parents, son-in-law, Roger Snortland, and wife Jeanne.
