David Pladson

July 4, 1929 — December 8, 2024

David Irvin Pladson, 95, of Mayville, ND, went to his heavenly home on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Sanford Hospital in Mayville. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 13, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Hatton, ND. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church.

David Irvin Pladson was born July 4, 1929, in Hatton, ND. His parents were Benjamin and Inga (Satrom) Pladson. He attended school in Newbury Township and after graduation, he worked for farmers in the Hatton area. In July 1948, David enlisted in the United States Navy and received his military discharge in July 1952 and at that time, returned back to Hatton. In 1953, he worked for McGarry Brothers Construction Company in St. Cloud, MN, and later moved to Minneapolis, MN, in 1956 where he worked for Cornelius Company for two years. David started in 1958 for SuperValu Stores, Inc., Hopkins, MN, and after 31 years, retired in 1988. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 544, member of the ELKS Lodge No. 2221, Hopkins, MN, American Legion Post 70 Hatton, ND, and a lifetime member of the V.F.W.

David was united in marriage to Darlene Wagner on October 11, 1958, at Hobart United Methodist Church in Minneapolis, MN. David and Darlene spent most of their married life together in Hopkins, MN. They enjoyed traveling together with their Hopkins friends. They enjoyed many road trips to spend time with their family and friends in ND and SD. After retirement, they later moved to Mayville, ND, to be closer to family. David and Darlene enjoyed life doing as much as they could together. They were members of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Hatton, ND. In David’s later years he was most often found driving his pickup around to look at crops, trips to Grand Forks, visit family or friends, or stop in at the local café for lunch. He spent many hours at the Rehab center at Sanford Health - Mayville where he had many friends that enjoyed their workout time together and breakfast afterwards. David was a very friendly soul who genuinely loved to visit and meet people. He most enjoyed family and friends stopping in for a visit. David always had a smile and a friendly welcome for everyone.

David was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene (Wagner) Pladson; parents, Benjamin & Inga Pladson; brother, Joel (Gudrun) Pladson, Hatton, ND; brother, Amos (Mary Lou) Pladson, Clifford, ND; and brother, Roland Pladson, Hatton, ND. He is survived by many nephews and nieces as well as great nephews and nieces.
