Denley R. Vigen, 68, of Hatton, North Dakota died Monday, October 12, 2009 at Innovis Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota. He had been suffering failing health since June.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 am, Friday, October 16, 2009 at St. John Lutheran Church in Hatton with burial in St. John Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Bilden Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00 pm until 7:00 and one hour prior to services in the church.
Denley Rae was born August 2, 1941 at Mayville, North Dakota the son of Erwin and Ruth (Hammerstad) Vigen. He was confirmed in the Little Forks Lutheran Church rural Hatton and was raised in the Golden Lake and Hatton area. Upon receiving his education he worked for area farmers for many years. On August 13, 1971 he was united in marriage to JoAnne Onstad and to this union was born their daughter, Jennifer and son, Jared. He then began working as a semi truck driver.
After the death of his mother, he began making flat bread which most of Hatton enjoyed and also loved planting tomatoes for making salsa. He also enjoyed putting together puzzles and framing them for his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, JoAnne; daughter, Jennifer (Peter) Verke and son, Jared Vigen both of Hatton, North Dakota; step-sons, Jay (Kim) Ostlie of Hatton, North Dakota and Jeff (Sharon) Ostlie of Sheridan, Wyoming; step-daugther, Jackie (Ernie) Holte of Northwood, North Dakota; grandchildren, Travis Vigen of Fargo, North Dakota, Zarha Verke of Hatton, North Dakota, Tabitha Vigen of Yucca Valley, California, Stephanie (Riley) Lillemoen of Grafton, North Dakota, Jessica Ostlie and Cody Ostlie both of Hatton, North Dakota, Josh (Martha) Holte of West Fargo, North Dakota, Shayde Holte of Fargo, North Dakota, Misti (Bill) Bakker of Northwood, North Dakota, Ashley (Daniel) Janssen of Nisswa, Minnesota, Kristopher (Heidi) Ostlie of Vergas, Minnesota and Nick (Justine) Oslie of Moorhead, Minnesota; four great grandchildren, Brody, Alexis, Alexis and Tyler; brother, Randy (Doris) Vigen of Buxton, North Dakota; niece, Brittany (Tim) Jaehning and two nephews, Brent (Molly) Vigen and Brooks (Megan) Vigen.
He was preceded in death by his parents and great granddaughter, Kelee Rae Vigen.
