Douglas D. Enger, 89, of Hatton, ND passed away Monday, August 22, 2011, at Hatton Prairie Village, Hatton, ND. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 26, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at the Goose River Lutheran Church, Hatton, ND. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 25th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at Hatton Prairie Village Chapel. Burial in the Goose River Cemetery.
Douglas Daniel Enger was born May 25, 1922, in Enger Township to Fred and Clara (Bye) Enger. He attended school in Enger Township and was baptized and confirmed at Little Forks Lutheran Church. Doug worked on the family farm with his dad until his marriage to Lillian Thompson on November 28, 1942, at Northwood, ND. They settled on the Henry Ragna Thompson farm and later purchased it. Douglas and Lillian spent their entire married life farming. This past November they celebrated 68 years of marriage at Hatton Prairie Village.
He enjoyed his family, farming, driving around, and yard work. As a member of the Goose River Church he served on various commitees and offices through the years. Douglas was recognized for his many faithful years as janitor at Goose River. He also served on the Hatton Creamery Board and the Steele County Weed Board.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian; children: David (Eileen) Enger, Plymouth, MN, Steven (Dorothy) Enger, Hatton, ND and Barbara Enger, Jamestown, ND; grandchildren: Anthony (Gretchen) Enger, Vincent (Vickie) Enger, Claudine (Dan) Galloway, Vanessa (Dan) Tierney, and Jennie (Seth) Archer; great grandchildren: Logan, Emma, Sam, Sydney, Makayla, Alex, Bella, Lexi, Jennna Rose, and Molly; brother: Fred Enger, Hatton, ND; sisters: Dorothy Enger, Monica Anderson, and Mary Roholt, all of Mayville, ND, and Donna Gramstad, Roseville, MN.
Preceding him in death were his parents and brother, Clark.
