Dwight Wayne Ollman was born September 18, 1948, in Grand Forks, ND to Donald and Dorothy Ollman. He graduated from Central High School, Grand Forks, ND in 1966 and attended Wahpeton State School of Science, earning a degree in Electronics Technology in 1968, and he worked in that field for 50 years, retiring in 2018. He lived on the farm that was homesteaded by his great grandfather. Dwight married “Sara, his wife” on September 6, 2003, always introducing her that way because he was emphatic Sara was a person, not just his wife.
His love for horses started when he was young and continued throughout his life. Trail riding, rodeo, showing and training horses brought him much enjoyment.
Dwight was known in our area for being the “rescue man”, coming to the aid of many a stranded motorist, pulling cars out of the ditch (you know who you are), changing flat tires - you name it and he was there to help you.
A humble man of faith, Dwight read from his Bible every day and proudly hosted the Holmes Live Nativity for 37 years bringing the real story of Christmas to life for thousands. Dwight also served as a Hatton Firefighter and first responder. He served as chair of the Holmes Brotherhood and served on the Board of Directors for Hatton Prairie Village.
Dwight is survived by his wife, Sara, rural Reynolds, ND; step-sons, Bo Wollangk and Casey Wollangk (Nikki); sisters: Peggy (Jim) Kieras, Pam Wright, and Penny Ollman; his dog, Monte; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Dorothy Ollman, brother-in-law Harold Wright, his dog Patch and his horses Maggie and Doc.
Remember Dwight by visiting each other, telling stories and always helping others. Blessed be the memory of Dwight.
Memorials are preferred to Northlands Rescue Mission, Hatton Fire Department, or the Hatton Food Pantry.
