Edward Evenstad was born October 25, 1950, in Northwood, ND, to Roy and Rozella (Zimprich) Evenstad. He was the 2nd of 10 children. Ed’s family moved to Northwood during his junior year of high school. He graduated from Northwood High School in 1968. After high school, Ed attended WyoTech and worked as an auto mechanic at Ostlie Oil for 25 years.
On November 12, 1976, Ed married Debra Tupa at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Larimore, ND. They recently celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary.
Ed worked at Uglem-Ness in Northwood as an ag mechanic. He was the main air conditioning guy and also went on the road to fix equipment. He worked at Uglem-Ness for 21 years and retired in 2017.
Ed was involved in the Northwood Volunteer Fire Department. He served as Chief, Assistant Chief and held other positions within the department as well. Ed earned his lifetime fireman's status in 1998. He was a member of the department for over 50 years and still asked questions on how the department was doing.
Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing softball, and having coffee with the guys in the mornings. What he enjoyed most and would light up his face was his grandkids, Nora, Duke, Emerson, Harper & Briggs. Whether it was on facetime or in person, you could see how proud and happy he was to talk with them. He would bring them up often in conversation with others and let them know what they were doing.
Ed is survived by his wife, Debra of Northwood; daughter, Jessica (Russell) Clark and their daughters, Nora and Harper, of Meridian, ID; son, Tony (Kate) Evenstad of Northwood and their children, Duke, Emerson, and Briggs; and son, Tim Evenstad of Northwood. Ed is also survived by his siblings: Greg (Joan) Evenstad, Glenwood, MD; Rosanne (Ulic) Miller, Britton, SD; Jane (Tom) Engen, Northwood, ND; Robert (Vicky) Evenstad, Eagle River, AK; Norman (Gwen) Evenstad, Sandy, UT; Vina (Lee) Langseth, North Bend, WA; and brother-in-law, Paul (Sharon) Tupa, Northwood, ND; Ed is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Rozella Evenstad; brothers, Carrol and Joseph Evenstad; and sister, Theresa.
