Edwin Kroeplin

Edwin Kroeplin of Hope, ND passed away Monday, October 10, 2016 under Hospice care at Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND. He lived to the age of 100 ½ years old. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hope. ND. A visitation will be held Friday, October 14, 2016 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service at the Bilden Funeral Home in Northwood, ND. Pastor Jacob Swenson will be officiating. Burial will take place in the Finley Cemetery.

Edwin was born at home, near Loon Lake, north of Bottineau, ND on April 2, 1916 to Caroline (Hahn) and Henry Kroeplin. Edwin married Lavoan Volker on September 27, 1939 at Gardena, ND. After their marriage, they farmed at Gardina, Inkster, Hope and Finley, ND. Lavoan and Edwin retired in 1979. They spent their winters in Donna, TX and summers at Finley, ND. Edwin was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hope and served as a trustee for several years. He was also on the Hope School Board for several years.

Edwin was an excellent pool player and an excellent swimmer. He loved baseball. Hobbies included gardening, going to auction sales, traveling and collecting antique sewing machines and Avon bottles. They belonged to a square dancing club and loved to dance.

After 60 years of marriage, Lavoan died of cancer. Edwin later married Wanita Touslee from Colby, Kansas. Wanita died August 20, 2015.

Survivors include five children: Donna Kroeplin of Devils Lake, ND; Marlen (Deb) Kroeplin of Hope, ND; Kenneth (Sharon) Kroeplin of Hope, ND; Susan (Keith) Flaten of Hope, ND; and Keven Kroeplin of Warren, MN; Daughter-in-law's, Delores Kvislen and Diane Kroeplin, both of Finley, ND; 19 Grandchildren, 36 Great-Grandchildren, and one Great-Great Grandchild.

Edwin was preceded in death by two sons, Wayne Kroeplin and Royce Kroeplin; sisters: Margaret, Viola, Floris and Luella; seven brothers: Carl, Robert, Henry, Erwin, Gilbert, Melvin and Donald.
