Elenore Nelson

Elenore Nelson, 85, of Hatton, North Dakota died Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at the Hatton Prairie Village in Hatton.

Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm, Saturday, January 16, 2010 in the Hatton Prairie Village Chapel in Hatton with burial in Little Forks Lutheran Cemetery of rural Hatton.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services.

Elenore Irene Nelson, 85, of Hatton, ND, died Tuesday morning, January 12, 2010 at the Hatton Prairie Village Nursing Home in Hatton, ND.

Elenore was born March 7, 1924 in rural Hatton, ND to Halfdan and Emma (Smestad) Hammerstad. On November 10, 1962 Elenore married Harry Norman Nelson of Hatton in East Grand Forks, MN. They resided on Harry Nelson's family farm until retirement at which time they moved to Mayville, ND. Elenore continued to reside in Mayville after Harry passed away; she lived briefly in Portland, ND before taking residency at the Hatton Prairie Village in August 2006.

Elenore was a member of Little Forks Lutheran Church and was involved with the Women's Auxiliary and their Bible Study group. On the farm her gardens were her passion, growing various flowers and vegetables. Her rose garden was her pride and joy. Elenore was always busy doing some type of embroidery needlework; whether it was for a gift for a family member, for someone special in her life or for a sale being held at Little Forks Lutheran Church.

Elenore was preceded in death by her beloved husband Harry who passed away on March 22, 1992. Also proceeded in death by her parents Halfdan and Emma Hammerstad, her brother Hilman Hammerstad and her son Dale Hammerstad.

Elenore is survived by her daughter-in-law Margo Hammerstad of Andover, MN; granddaughter Sara Hammerstad of Minnetonka,MN; granddaughter Lisa Hammerstad of Champlin, MN and great granddaughters; Emma and Cora Lasho also of Champlin, MN. Elenore is also survived by many relatives and good friends.

The Bilden Funeral Home of Hatton is assisting the family with arrangements.
