Ethel Kent

February 23, 1922 — August 3, 2017

Ethel Kent, 95, of Hatton, ND passed away Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Hatton Prairie Village in Hatton. A memorial service will be held Friday, August 18, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. at Holmes United Methodist Church, rural Reynolds, ND. A visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. at the church.

Ethel B. Kent was born February 23, 1922 at Rugby, North Dakota to Walter and Ona (Bennett) Book. Ethel graduated from Rugby high school and then graduated as an RN from the Deaconess School of Nursing in Grand Forks, ND

On May 13, 1943, she married James N Kent in Grand Forks. They lived in various cities around the United States while James was in the Army. They lived in Grand Forks where James taught school until 1949 when the moved to the family farm near Hatton.

Ethel lived a long and full life and loved being a nurse. She worked at Union Hospital in Mayville and the nursing homes in Mayville and Hatton. She loved to golf and walk. She was well known in the city of Hatton for her daily walks around town.

Ethel was in her glory in her house in Arizona. She and James spent many winters in AZ and enjoyed entertaining their friends and family.

Ethel was actively involved in her church, the Holmes United Methodist Women, Eastern Star and a ladies group at Velda Rose United Methodist Church in Mesa, AZ.

Ethel also made the best lemon meringue pie this side of heaven.

Ethel is survived by her children: James (Sandi) Kent of Crookston, MN, Marilyn Kent of Houston, Texas, David (Marguerite) Kent of Hatton. Grandchildren: Kristen and Sean Huntley of Richfield, MN, Matthew and Tiffany Kent of Loveland, CO., Natalie and Leonard Karge and their daughters Elouise and Adeline of Helotes, Texas, Leah Kent and her fiancé Darin Zimmerman of Crookston, MN., and Madalyn and Lance Rambousek of Bismarck, ND.

Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and siblings. She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Jane Book of Mesa, AZ and Ruth Grina Buwolda of Phoenix, AZ and her brother in law Aubrey Butler of Perham, MN.

In Lieu of flowers memorials can be given to the Holmes United Methodist Church and Hatton Prairie Village.
