Eva Holweger

Eva Holweger, 91, of Northwood, ND passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025, in the comfort of her home. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 7, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Holmes United Methodist Church, rural Reynolds, ND with visitation being held an hour prior to the service.

Eva was born on March 23, 1933 to Loyd and Elsie LaFontaine. She grew up and attended school in rural Bagley, MN.

Eva met Henry Holweger through her brother Don and they fell in love and were married on April 8th, 1951. Eva and Henry went on to have 6 children, Jim, Dan, Tom, Chris, Kathy, and Cindy. They lived in MN before moving to Emerado, ND and later to Northwood, ND. Eva worked a variety of jobs before moving to Northwood. Eva had a huge heart and dedicated 45+ years of her life caring for others at Northwood Deaconess Nursing Home. She also spent many years working potato harvest and at Agvise.

She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Eva was an incredible cook and baker and you would never leave her home hungry. Other hobbies she enjoyed included gardening, canning, reading, and crocheting. Eva also loved visiting with her friends over a cup of coffee.

Eva leaves behind a legacy of love to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many dear friends. She is survived by her sister, Gladys Hlavac, Bemidji, MN; her children Jim (Christine) Holweger, Hatton, ND; Dan Holweger, Grand Forks, ND; Tom (Patty) Holweger, Detroit Lakes, MN; Chris (Dick) Hanson, Grand Forks, ND; and Cindy (Keith) Joyce, Helena, MT; grandchildren Jamie, Melissa, Ryan, Nicole, Andrea, Alyson, Mary, David, Randy, Mark, Jeff, Danielle, and Alayna; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Kathy, son Dan’s life partner Tamara Jemtrud, siblings LaVerne, Donald, Leslie, Ida, and many friends.
