Geraldine Pederson

Geraldine "Jerry" Pederson, 84, of Hatton, ND passed away Sunday, December 24, 2017 at Sanford Hospital in Mayville, ND surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Hatton. A visitation will be held Friday, December 29, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the church.

Jerry was born August 24, 1933, the daughter of Chester and Borghild "Buggs" Thompson, in Northwood, ND. Jerry was baptized, confirmed and married at St. John Church. She graduated from Hatton High School in 1952 and went on to get a teaching certificate from Mayville State. She taught school for a time at the Melby School in Washington Township and in Newberg Township, rural Hatton.

She was married to Hjalmer Pederson Jr. on December 21, 1952 at St. John Lutheran Church in Hatton. This past week, they celebrated their 65th Anniversary. Through the years, Jerry worked as a bookkeeper at the family business, Pederson Implement. Jr. and Jerry enjoyed attending sporting events, especially of their grandchildren. They were avid Hatton Flyer and Thunder Fans.
Jerry was known by many of the area kids as Grandma Jerry. She was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church, serving on various church boards and the church quilters. She was also a member of the Eielson Museum Board.

Survivors include her husband, Hjalmer; children: Ronda (Keith) Hanson; Julie (Arden) Lillemoen; and David (Nancy) Pederson, all of Hatton, ND; grandchildren: Heather Hanson, Riley (Stephanie) Lillemoen, Angela (Terry) Haugen, Ashley (Ryan) Peterson, Kristen Hanson, Amanda (Adam) Thorsgard, Brady Hanson, Kyle Pederson, Jace Pederson, Rachel Pederson, and Joelle Lillemoen; great-grandchildren: Katelyn Milligan, Keagan Lillemoen, Brody Lillemoen, Jaylee Milligan, Tenley Lillemoen, Gracie Thorsgard, Natalie Thorsgard, Ryan Haugen, Hailey Milligan, Westin Peterson, Isaac Thorsgard, Dakota Peterson and Sadie Thorsgard; brother, Chester (Myrna) Thompson, sister-in-law, Marilyn Pederson;

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Ryan Hanson; sister, Curtiselle Offerdahl; brother-in-laws, Robert Offerdahl and Ronald Pederson.
