Gertrude "Gertie" Roeder, 75, of Grand Forks, North Dakota formerly of Thompson died Sunday, February 14, 2010 at her home.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm, Friday, February 19, 2010 at Holmes United Methodist Church rural Reynolds, North Dakota with burial in the Holmes Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Thursday at the Bilden Funeral Home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm with at 7:00 pm Prayer Service and one hour prior to services in the church.
Gertrude Holweger was born November 20, 1934 at Emerado, North Dakota the daughter of Gottlieb and Hulda Holweger, Jr. She was raised and educated in Pleasant View Township attending country school and Emerado High School. On July 22, 1951 she was united in marriage to Delmer C. Roeder at Pleasant View Evangelical Church. They lived in Red Lake Falls, Minnesota for a brief time and then established their home on a farm in Fairfield Township of rural Thompson. For 30 years Gertie worked at the Northwood Deaconess Health Center as a baker. Delmer passed away on December 31, 1991. She continued to make her home on the farm until moving to Grand Forks in the summer of 2007.
She was a very active member of Holmes United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, Bible School, was a member of the United Methodist Women and served in many other capacities over the years.
Gertie lived for her family, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her greatest joy in her life. She also enjoyed gardening and baking. One thing she will be remembered for is remembering family and friends with cards for many special occasions over the years.
She will be dearly missed by her sons, Wayne (Donna) and Robert (Patty) both of Thompson, North Dakota; daughters, Linda (Dave) Vanderhoff of East Grand Forks, Minnesota, Teresa (Steve) Evanson of Thompson, North Dakota, Vicki (Mark) Lambrecht and Leanne (Mike) Knecht both of Grand Forks, North Dakota; seventeen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; aunt, Eva Holweger of Northwood, North Dakota; sisters-in-law, Viola (Arnold) Abel of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota and Leona (Ed) Gage of Northwood, North Dakota, brother-in-law, Ross Lang of Crookston, Minnesota and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Delmer, brother-in-law, Ray Hart and sister-in-law, June Lang.
The Bilden Funeral Home of Northwood is assiting the family with arrangements.
