Gladys Brager

Gladys M. Brager, 99, of Finley, ND passed away on Monday, July 18, 2011, at Bethany Homes, Fargo, ND. Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 23, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the Finley Lutheran Church, Finley, ND. Visitation will be held Friday, July 22nd from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the church. Burial in the Bethany Cemetery, Finley, ND.
Gladys M. Samnoen was born June 25, 1912, in Golden Lake Township of Steele County. She grew up in Golden Lake Township and graduated from Hatton High School in 1930. Upon graduation she attended Mayville Normal School and taught in various one room rural schools for 12 years.
On June 15, 1942, she married Harry Brager at Grand Forks, ND. In October of 1943, they moved to the farm near Finley. They farmed there and in the fall of 1957, she returned to Mayville State Teachers College, and returned to teaching for an additional 13 years. She finished her teaching career in Hope, ND. In 2006, she moved to Fargo to live with her daughter, Ruth and has resided at Bethany Homes since June of 2011. Gladys was also a two time breast cancer survivor.
Survivors include her children: Harlan (Mary)Brager, Kenmore, WA, Diane (Paul) Newburgh, West Fargo, ND, John Brager, Finley, and Ruth Horob, Fargo, ND; grandchildren: Brian Brager and Lisa Whittlesey; Jennifer, Mark, and Steven Newburgh; Rhonda Kitch, Corey and Chris Horob; 17 great grandchildren; sister, Mildred Skurdell, Northwood, ND; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Harry on June 18, 1994; grandson, Scott Brager; and sisters: Martha Braaten, Thea Berge, and Inga Ewbank.
