Goodwin Owen, 90, of Mayville, ND passed away Friday, December 5, 2014 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at the Aurdahl Lutheran Church, Portland, ND. Visitation will be held Monday, December 8th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the church. Burial will be held in the Little Forks Cemetery, rural Hatton, ND.
Goodwin Ingmar Owen was born November 2, 1924, near Hatton, ND, the son of Herluf and Ida (Boe) Owen. He attended school in rural Hatton and graduated from Hatton High School in 1944.
On October 8, 1950, he was united in marriage to Darlene Groth in Hatton, ND. Goodwin spent his lifetime doing what he loved most, farming. He finished his most recent harvest just this fall. His four great-grandchildren affectionately referred to him as "Grandpa Combine." There was no place Goodwin enjoyed more than to be on his family farm near Hatton, where they resided until relocating to Mayville, ND.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene, Mayville, ND; children: Gregory Owen, Grand Forks, ND and Nicki (Don) Wamstad, Hatton, ND; grandchildren: Kallie (Ben) Naastad, Grand Forks, Blake (Jill) Wamstad, Hatton, and Haley Wamstad, Larimore, ND; great-grandchildren: Natalie and Noah Naastad, Rylan and Breykn Wamstad.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Chad Garrett; his parents; brother, Paul Owen; and sister, Genevieve Thompson.
