Irene Enger

Irene Ostby was born May 8, 1927, in rural Steele County, ND, to Martin and Anna (Peterson) Ostby. She grew up in the Steele County area and attended rural country school. On September 26, 1948, Irene married Walter Enger in Fisher, MN. Irene worked for rural farmers doing housekeeping.

In 1951, Irene and Walter moved to Excelsior, MN, where she continued her housekeeping business. They moved back to Hatton and then to an apartment in Portland, ND, until Walter’s death. Irene then moved to Hatton Prairie Village. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, dancing, fishing, and visiting with family and friends.

Irene is survived by many nieces and nephews. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Walter; siblings: Bertha (Roy) Hertwig; Clarence Ostby; Myrtle (Ken) Sletten; Raymond Ostby; Pearl (Otto) Bertsch; Norma (Leroy) Axelson; Norman Ostby; Ordean Ostby; Williard (Sandra) Ostby; and Loraine Ostby.
