Irene Hanson

Irene Hanson, 87, of Hatton, ND passed away Sunday, October 25, 2015 at her home in Hatton. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 31, 2015 at 11:00a.m at St. John Lutheran Church in Hatton. A visitation will be held from 9:30a.m until the time of the service at the church.

Irene Caroline Vigen was born April 9, 1928 to Iver and Caroline (Holm) Vigen. She was the youngest of 18 children. Irene was confirmed at Little Forks Church, rural Hatton.

On May 20, 1945, Irene was united in marriage to Hans E. Skarphol. To this union, there were five children: Karen, Rita, Shawnee, Hal and Lori. They were later divorced. On July 16, 1961, Irene was united in marriage to Milford Hanson. Milford and Irene, along with his brother Robert and his wife Donna, ran the Hatton Meat Market until the early 80's. Irene then worked as a waitress and later at the Tri-County Nursing Home, in the kitchen, laundry or housekeeping.

Survivors include her daughters: Karen (Richard) Enger; Rita (Danny) Boe; Shawnee (Scott) Evanson; and Lori (Jeff) Skadeland; sister-in-law, Eleanore Vigen, brother-in-law, Robert (Donna) Hanson, and sister-in-law, Inez Hanson; Grandchildren: Mark Rohman, Marnie (John) Steinebach, Teresa (Brian) Nagel, Cari (Dave) Franzen, Dana (Tina) Boe, Stacy (Dave) Buchl, Tim Evanson, Katie Skadeland, Tom Skadeland; great-grandchildren: Jaquilyn (Dale) Espy, Jessica (Robbie) Douglas, Jazlyn Prough, Clovessa Turnbull, Jesse Steinebach, Shelbi Boren, Liam Steinebach, Hunter Nagel, Shelby Nagel, Beau Franzen, Kinley Franzen, Spencer Boe, Lincoln Boe, Lillian Boe, Dana (Austin) Browning, Renae Rohman; great-great-grandchildren: Quinn Browning, Ian Rohman, Kayden Rohman, Aliyah Rohman, Acie Douglas, Alexys Douglas, Sinika Adams, Mika Adams, Shayley Boren, Willow Johnson, Whisper Klocke, Harper Steinebach. Irene is also survived by several nieces and nephews and very special friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Milford, son Hal, brothers: Oscar, Ernest, Harry, Ervin, IIan, Ansgard, Clarence, Wallace, Kermit and baby boy Vigen; sisters: Solvieg, Bernice, Blondie, Frida, Lenora and Frances (Thelma); brother-in-laws: Mikkel Anderson, Clarence Johnson, Herbert Brainerd, Kenneth Amundson and Gene Haraldson; sister-in-laws: Hazel, Irene (Ilam), Gladys (Ansgard), Gladys (Clarence) and Ruth (Ervin); Kenneth and Myrtle Hanson, Stan and Lillian Hanson, Parnell and Delores Hanson, Cliff and Jean Gustafson, Norma and Ella Mae Domier, and Glenn Hanson.
