James Flom

James Flom, 89, of Hatton, ND passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Sanford Medical Center in Hillsboro, ND. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bilden-Askew Funeral Home in Northwood, ND. A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

James was born January 6, 1928 in Gary, MN to John and Viola (Kylander) Flom. He grew up and attended school in Gary MN. James worked for Burkey Lincoln-Mercury in Fargo for many years. On September 23, 1950, James married Verna Marsh. He also worked for Midwest Coffee and Schwans Sales Enterprise before leasing the cafe in Gary MN and then buying a restaurant in Hatton ND. After being in the restaurant business, James worked as a salesman for Bonitas Pizza until his retirement.

Survivors include his children: Suzanne (Randy Bye), Sheryl (Bob Larson), Sarah, Jim (Tinker Flom), Mark, Juliane (Brian Cutshall); sister, Veronica (Charles) McCalip. James is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents John, and Viola, wife, Verna; brothers: Paul, Jerome and David; and sister, Lorraine.
