Jeroy Mehus

Jeroy G. Mehus, 78, of Hatton, ND, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Hatton Prairie Village in Hatton. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Hatton. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hatton Prairie Village, 950 Dakota Ave, Hatton, ND 58240.

Jeroy Gunder Mehus was born June 10, 1946, in Mayville, ND, to Gunder and Judith (Anderson) Mehus. He grew up on the Mehus farm outside of Hatton. Jeroy graduated from Hatton High School and joined the United States Army. On July 19, 1968, he married Deborah Haugen at St. John Lutheran Church in Hatton. Jeroy farmed in the Hatton area from childhood until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, watching crops and produce grow, and visits/sleepovers with his grandchildren. In his later years, he enjoyed mowing and driving his John Deere lawn tractor.

Jeroy is survived by his wife, Deb, of 56 years; children: Julie Mehus (Louie) and her daughter, Annie; Dara Berdal and her children, Hannah and Ben; James (Wendy) Mehus and their children: Chantz, Haley, Noah, Tatum, Zoey, and Mia; Eric (Mindi) Mehus and their children: Braeden (Jana) Jorgensen, Dallas Jorgensen, and Levi Jorgensen; Joseph Mehus; Aaron Mehus and his son, Brody; sisters-in-law, Judy Morkve and Sue (Ed) Storey; brothers-in-law, Steven Sander; and Russ (Becki) Haugen; nieces and nephews: Jeroy is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Dwayne Mehus; sister, Earleen Sander; sister-in-law, Margaret Mehus; brother-in-law, Doug Morkve; and two granddaughters, Dominica and Ahna Mehus, the daughters of James and Wendy Mehus.
