Karen Olson

Karen Olson, 77, of Hatton, ND passed away Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 14, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Hatton. A visitation will be held Sunday, January 13, 2019 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. with a 6:00 p.m. prayer service at the church.

Karen Nelson was born February 17, 1941 in Grand Forks, ND to Charles and Lila (Yenna) Nelson. She attended Central High School in Grand Forks. On February 28, 1957, Karen married Orvis LeRoy Olson in East Grand Forks, MN. They resided in Hatton, ND where she worked for the Hatton Nursing Home for 40 years. Karen was a member of Zoar Lutheran Church in Hatton. She valued her friends, enjoyed cooking and entertaining for her family, and liked to paint, gardening and animals. She will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her children: Julie Olson, Winnipeg, Manitoba; Pam (Don) Piesik, Wibaux, MT; Roy (Debbie) Olson, Grand Forks, ND; Terry (Robin) Olson, Cartwright, ND; Kari (Scott) Kolling, East Grand Forks, MN; Hope (Eddie) Carroll, Northwood, ND; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Chuck Nelson Jr, Indianapolis, IN;

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Orvis LeRoy Olson; two brothers and a sister;
