Kevin Mastrud

Kevin Mastrud, 54, of Northwood, ND passed away Monday, May 6, 2019 at his home in Northwood. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Ebenezer Free Lutheran Church in Northwood. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.

Kevin Mastrud was born July 18, 1964 to the late Alvin and Karen (Braaten) Mastrud. He grew up in Northwood and was confirmed at Ebenezer Lutheran Church. In 1983, Kevin graduated from Northwood High School.

Kevin was employed by the City of Northwood since he was a sophomore in high school and continued working for the city up until his death. On December 17, 1993, Kevin married Amy Thoreson. They were together for 31 years.

Kevin enjoyed watching NASCAR, camping at the lake with family and friends, competing in demo derby’s and eventually, watching his son, Austin in derby’s. He was very proud of him. Kevin enjoyed having company, even though he wasn’t much of a talker, he still enjoyed company. He enjoyed having his sister and brother-in-law come to visit and stay with him. You would always see him with his dog, Yasmin, driving around town. Kevin was a quiet guy but loved everybody and had a big heart.

Survivors include his wife, Amy Mastrud, Grand Forks, ND; children: Austin Mastrud, Northwood, ND; Briana Mastrud and Sierra Mastrud, both of Grand Forks; sister, Connie (Brad) Blegen, Keene, ND; grandchildren, Teegan and Penelope; Kevin is also survived by several aunts, two uncles, many cousins, and his dog, Yasmin.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Alvin and Karen Mastrud; Aunt Jeanette Anderson and Uncle James Braaten, and his grandma and grandpa Braaten.
