Larry Hanson

Larry Hanson, 80, of Hatton, ND, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Hatton Prairie Village in Hatton. Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 22, 2024, at 3:00 pm. at St. John Lutheran Church in Hatton. A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hatton Prairie Village or a memorial of your choice.

Larry Lewellyn Hanson was born August 4, 1944, to James and Donna (Nelson) Hanson. He grew up on a farm outside of Northwood. He graduated from Northwood High School and NDSU. On July 26, 1969, Larry married Renee Sweeney at St. Isidore’s Church near Staples, MN.

Larry worked first for the Jolly Green Giant in MN. When Larry’s father died, he came home to farm. After he left farming, he first worked for the carrot plant and then for Naastad Brothers. When asked what he enjoyed most, he always said my family, my grandchildren, and work.

Larry is survived by his wife of 55 years, Renee; children: Shawn (Peggy) and their children: Ben (Karissa), Jake (Erin), Kallie and Cole; Chad (Elisa) and their children: Jalen (Tyler), Sawyer, Maddox, and Christian; Jill (Justin), and their children: Ryan, Maximus, and Kate; Jeni (Jason) and their children: Cade, Brody, Lawson, and Rafe; great-grandchildren, Jack and Russell Hanson; sisters-in-law, Glenna Woerdehoff, Darcy Sweeney, and Susan Iberg; brother-in-law, Ronald Woerdehoff; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, James and Leland; brother-in-law, Michael Sweeney; and nephew, John Hanson.
