Lloyd Lenz

Lloyd Lenz, 88, of rural Reynolds, ND, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2016 at Northwood Deaconess Health Center in Northwood, ND. A memorial service will be held Monday, August 1, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Holmes United Methodist Church, rural Reynolds. A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church.

Lloyd was born June 4, 1928 in rural Reynolds, ND to Rueben and Marie (Rux) Lenz. He grew up on the family farm and was a lifelong farmer. On November 25, 1950, Lloyd married Betty Jane Beine. Together they farmed and milked cows on the Lenz home place. He was a life-long member of the Holmes United Methodist Church. He served as a church trustee and was a church treasurer for many years. Lloyd was active in the men's chorus and men's brotherhood. He also served on Union District #53 School Board.

As a busy farmer, he didn't take time for hobbies but he was good at fixing things such as farm machinery, household appliances and toys. He could make people laugh and teasing everyone. Lloyd loved playing cards, especially rook, with his brothers. Cheese and crackers were his passion.

In his later years when he wasn't so mobile, Abbey (dog) and Zeke (cat) helped him pass the time. His grandchildren were a source of pride and joy. He will be missed but always close in our hearts.

Lloyd is survived by his wife of 65 ½ years, Betty; three children: Pat (Myron) Disrud, Rolla, ND; Paul Lenz, Reynolds, ND; Pam (Ken) Crawford, Grafton, ND; five grandchildren: Marlys (Ryan) Severance, Brad (Tiffany) Disrud, Janelle (Shawn) Carnahan, Zach and Zane Crawford; seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lois Lenz; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was the last living member of his family. Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers, Earl and Clifford; sister, Viola; sister-in-law, LaVern; brother-in-law, Sidney Thompson; son-in-law, Ken Crawford, three nephews and one niece.
