Marlys Thompson

Marlys Thompson, 83, of Portland, ND passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013 at Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 31, 2013 at 2:00pm at St. John Lutheran Church in Hatton, ND. A visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the time of the service at the church.

Marlys Larson was born May 04, 1930 in Northwood, ND to Melvin and Pearl (Olson) Larson. She grew up in the Northwood area and graduated from Northwood High School. Marlys worked at the Northwood hospital and nursing home in the laundry room. In March of 1958, Marlys married Orin Thompson. After marriage, she worked in laundry at Tri-County Home in Hatton, ND. Marlys loved to bowl, garden, and work in the yard.

Marlys is survived by her husband, Orin, Portland, ND; Son, Gary (Leslie) Thompson, Mayville, ND; grandchildren: Amy (fiancé Patrick Helling) Thompson, Grand Forks, ND, Mark (fiancé Amber Goeser) Thompson, Hatton, ND, Holly Thompson, Mayville, ND; brothers: Manfred "Manny" Larson, Northwood, ND, Robert (Rika) Mandt, Fargo, ND; sister, Virginia Johnson, Grand Forks, ND.

Preceding Marlys in death were her parents, brothers: Orville K. Larson, Ardell H. Larson, Charles G. Larson, Galen O. Larson; sisters: KIaren Flesche, and Carol E. Larson.
