Milton T Burud

Milton T. Burud, 95, of Mayville,, North Dakota formerly of Hatton, North Dakota died Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at his home in Mayville.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 am, Saturday, July 18, 2009 at St. John Lutheran Church in Hatton with burial in St. John Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Friday at the Hatton Prairie Village Chapel from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm with a 7:00 pm Prayer Service and one hour prior to services in the church.

Milton T. Burud was born December 26, 1913 at Hatton, North Dakota the son of Oscar and Jorgine (Olson) Burud. He was raised there and graduated from Hatton High School. He then attended the Wahpeton School of Science studying electronics. On September 7, 1941 he was united in marriage to Marie Berg at Shell Creek Lutheran Church rural Blaisdell. In 1942 he entered the U.S. Army serving during WWII. After his discharge they lived in Minot for one year before returning to Hatton where they have made their home through the years. Milton worked as a State and Federal Inspector for forty-two years retiring in 1977. In August of 2008 they moved to the Sun Center South in Mayville.
Milton was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed. He also was a member of the Carroll O. Flesche Post # 70 Hatton American Legion Post, Hatton Fire Department and was an Eagle Scout.

He is survived by his wife, Marie; sons, Dennis (Barbara) Burud of Bottineau, North Dakota, Terry (Myrna) Burud of Minot, North Dakota and Richard Burud of Jackson, Minnesota; grandchildren, Jason Burud, Paul (Kristen) Burud, Donna Cushing, Brad (Charlsie) Burud, Jim (Melissa) Burud, Heather (Kip) Wachal, Becky (Matthew) Kolander and Lisa (Collin) VanDeVere; twelve great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Ovidia Ensrud, Margaret Eng, Josie Kmecik and Amanda Ohnstad, brother, Rueben and an infant brother, Rueben.

The Bilden Funeral Home of Hatton is assisting the family with arrangements.
