Olive "Ollie" Beine

Olive "Ollie" Orraine Beine, 82, of Thompson, ND, died peacefully on Saturday March 28, 2015 at Hatton Prairie Village, Hatton, ND. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 1st at 7:00pm at Holmes United Methodist Church, rural Reynolds, ND. A visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until the time of the service at the church.
Olive was born March 25, 1933 in Hatton, ND, to Marvin and Ida Rydland. She grew up and attended school there, graduating from Hatton High School in 1951. She received her teaching certificate and went on to teach in Thompson and Emerado before going to Northwood, where she taught for 25 years. While teaching, she took classes and earned her bachelor's degree in 1977. Olive retired from teaching in 1993.
On October 9, 1955 Olive was united in marriage to James Beine, Reynolds, ND, at Washington Prairie Church, rural Hatton, ND. In 1963, they established their farmstead in rural Thompson, where she lived until she moved into Hatton Prairie Village last year. Together they have two sons, Marc and David.
Olive belonged to the Holmes United Methodist Church, where she was a very active member. She was president of the Holmes United Methodist Women for many years. She had a great joy for singing, enjoyed painting and making cards for all occasions and everyone. She held a weekly Bible study in her home for the women of the neighborhood, which she always looked forward to. She also was delighted to surprise people by dressing up and playing her alter ego ‘Dagmar Swenson' the singing telegram bag lady from Norway. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. Olive was a woman of faith, who will be remembered for her kindness and generosity. She will be greatly missed by everyone around her.
Olive is survived by her sons Marc (Jennifer) Beine of Northwood, ND and David (Patti) Beine of Thompson, ND; grandchildren Jenna (Tyler) Peterson, Megan Beine (Derrick Enger) of Hatton, ND, Nikki (Josh) Nelson, Adam Beine of Northwood, ND, Tasha Beine, Jon Beine of Thompson, ND; great-grandchildren Alexa Beine, Parker Skidmore, Tylynn Peterson, McKinley Nelson, and Madalynn Nelson; sister Mardell Nienas of Thompson, ND; brother-in-laws Dale (Shirley) Beine of Reynolds, ND and Keith (Alice) Beine of Itasca, IL; sister-in-law Gaynelle Rydland of Grand Forks, ND; and several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James, her parents, her brother Myron Rydland, and brother-in-law Warren Nienas.
