Orpha H Stavedahl

Orpha H. Stavedahl, 91, of Hatton, ND and formerly of Portland, ND passed away on Monday, September 19, 2011, at Hatton Prairie Village, Hatton, ND. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 23, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. Bruflat Lutheran Church, Portland, ND. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 22nd from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at Hatton Prairie Village Chapel. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Burial in the Perry Lutheran Cemetery, Portland, ND.
Orpha was born to Jens and Andera (Kvernen) Nelson on August 8, 1920, in Mondovi, WI , the youngest on nine children. She spent her childhood in Mondovi and her teenage years in Eau Claire, WI.
On November 8, 1938, she married Alfred Stavedahl in Wisconsin. They made their home on a farm in rural Portland. Together they raised three children, her children were her pride and joy. Alfred passed away on January 5, 1976.
She was a lover of music and could listen to it all day, as well as singing for many weddings and funerals. Orpha also enjoyed quilting, and making candles and dolls out of beads. She was also known as the "doll lady" and would give everyone she met a doll. Doing puzzle books and watching "The Golden Girls" were also favorite pastimes.
Orpha was a kind and caring person and was full of love in her heart. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her daughters: Jeanette Eide and Sylvia Onerheim (Wayne Wiberg) all of Hatton; grandchildren: Larry and Terry Onerheim and Shari (Tim) Nerby, all of Portland; great grandchildren: Jack, Dawnelle, Tonya, Erika, Nikki, Dalton, and Donovan.
Also preceding her in death were her parnets; son, Jerome; grandson, Gary; seven brothers, and one sister.
Clergy: Rev. Robert Scheurer and Pastor Dean Lyste.
Music: Marlene Johnson, Organist.
Casket Bearers: Kurtis Boe, Jack Nerby, Tim Nerby, Larry Onerheim, Terry Onerheim, and Allen Stavedahl.
