Otto Aaland

Otto Aaland, 87, of the Hatton-Northwood area, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Northwood Deaconess Health Center in Northwood. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 21, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at Northwood Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northwood. A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church.

Otto was born August 5, 1930 in Newburg Township, rural Hatton, ND to John and Oline (Midbo) Aaland. He grew up in the Hatton/Northwood area and graduated from Hatton High School. On November 20, 1953, Otto married Marjorie Thingelstad in Northwood. Otto enjoyed woodworking, gardening, meeting people and showing off his handy work. He was extremely proud of his Norwegian heritage. He greatly loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his daughters: Deborah (Randy) Trostad, McVille, ND; Mary Aaland, Fargo, ND; Laurie (Mark) Krotz, Mesa, AZ; son, David (Deb) Aaland, Hatton, ND; grandchildren: Jeremy (Amber) Trostad, Cassondra (Travis) Schock, Sarah (Marco Munoz) Haggerty, Rebecca (Peter) Graham, Elizabeth (Mike) Froelich, Zach Peterson, John (Bridget) Aaland, Alyssa Aaland (Travis Geller), Allison Aaland; Great-Grandchildren: Kenedy and Brinley Trostad, Brandi, Hunter, Mallori and Karli Schock, Tristan and Daniel Froelich, Prudence Graham, Ivy Aaland, Kara Munoz; and sister, Ruby Palmer;

Preceding him in death were his parents, John and Oline Aaland; wife, Marjorie; granddaughter, Angela Aaland; and sister, Jean Megerdigian.
