Paul "Rudy" Ruud

Paul D. Ruud "Rudy", 53, of Northwood, North Dakota died Tuesday, April 7, 2009 surrounded by family at the Deaconess Health Center in Northwood after a courageous battle with melanoma cancer.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Ebenezer Free Lutheran Church in Northwood with burial in North Cemetery rural, Northwood.

Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm with a 6:00 pm Prayer Service and one hour prior to services.

Paul D. Ruud was born July 26, 1955 in Northwood, North Dakota the son of Don and
Phyllis (Gravdahl) Ruud. He was raised there and attended school in Northwood where he was active in music and sports. In 1973 he graduated from Northwood High School and then attended the University of North Dakota where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He then worked for Matador Service in western North Dakota for several years in the oil fields. In December of 1984 he went to work for Krabbenhoft Chevrolet in Northwood where he won numerous awards for vehicle sales. He also farmed with his father until he began farming on his own in 1991.


He was a member of Ebenezer Free Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed, the Northwood Fire Department, the Men's Club and also played softball for many years. He married Jan Hanson on September 6, 1986 in Northwood.
Paul was an avid collector and loved University of North Dakota Sioux sports, especially Hockey. He had a wonderful sense of humor and will be missed by all of his many friends.

He is survived by his parents, Don and Phyllis Ruud, of Northwood, brother, Mitchell (Sharon) Ruud of Fargo, sisters, Ginger (Mike) Voglewede of Northwood and Dee Dee (Cary) Stephenson of Pelican Rapids, MN; nieces, Jenna (Joe) Zavoral of East Grand Forks, Taylor Hanson of Grand Forks, Jessica (Ben) Krause of Plymouth, MN, Kristen Ruud of Minneapolis, MN, Anna and Tori Stephenson of Pelican Rapids. and Jessica Volgewede of Plainwell, MI and great nephew William Zavoral.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mabel and Gotfred Ruud and Kathryne Gravdahl.
