Phyllis Olson

Phyllis “Gutting” Olson, 94, of Northwood and formerly of Tolna, ND passed away Sunday, January 20, 2019 at Northwood Deaconess Health Center in Northwood. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 25, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at American Lutheran Church in Tolna, ND. A visitation will held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church.

Phyllis was born March 29, 1924 at Lakota, ND to Edward and Charlotte Ludtke. She grew up in the Lakota area. After graduating high school in Lakota, she worked in the Lakota Welfare Office during the day and at the Lakota Theatre, taking tickets, in the evening. She also worked at Stump Lake Café on some weekends. On November 7, 1945, Phyllis married Raleigh Gutting. They had four children: Dennis, Donna, Fritz and Charlene. Raleigh passed away Feb 15, 1964. Phyllis married Thorman Olson on Feb 7, 1970. He passed away in December of 1978.

Survivors include her children: Dennis Gutting, Fritz (Janet) Gutting, Charlene (Andy) Stamness; and 11 grandchildren.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Raleigh and Thorman; daughter, Donna; son-in-law, Ardell Hermanson; brothers, Lawrence, Duane and Kenneth;
