Rose Mary Ostenson

Rose Mary (Smaaladen) Ostenson, born July 5, 1933 to Richard and Alvina (Jacobson) Smaaladen, died Saturday, March 18, 2017 under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley and the staff of Northwood Deaconess Health Center. Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sharon, ND. A visitation will be held Friday, March 24, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the Bilden Funeral Home in Northwood.

She attended school at Aneta Public School and graduated Valedictorian of her class. After graduation, she worked at the store in Aneta prior to her meeting and marring Theodore Ostenson Jr. of Sharon, ND.

They had three children: Debra (Douglas) Hannestad of Hatton, ND; Diane (Michael) Williams of Emerado, ND; and Todd Ostenson of Sharon, ND.

They farmed for over 63 years. Rose was involved in the church organizations and teaching Sunday school.

Survivors include her children, Deb (Doug) Hannestad, Diane (Michael) Williams, and Todd Ostenson; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Richard and Alvina; brothers, Gorden and Allen; and her husband Ted.

Memorials are preferred to be made to the Hoff Cemetery Fund and mailed to the Sharon Bank, 312 Main Street, Sharon, ND 58277 or to the charity of your choice.

There will be no fellowship to follow the service.
