Russell Pladson, 83, of Hatton, ND passed away Friday, September 25, 2020 at Hatton Prairie Village in Hatton. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Hatton. A visitation will be held Tuesday, September 29, 2020 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the church. Due to COVID-19, the use of masks and social distancing are recommended.

Russell was born June 19, 1937, to Willie and Ida (Norgaard) Pladson of Hatton, North Dakota. He attended rural grade school, Newburgh #6, and then Hatton High School. He was baptized and confirmed in Goose River Lutheran Church, rural Hatton.

He married Jean Johnson of rural Hatton on November 27th, 1959 at St. John Church, Hatton.

He was a lifetime farmer, retiring in 2001. However, he still continued to “manage” the farm until his death. He looked forward to planting crops in the spring, watching them grow through the summer, and harvesting them in the fall. He could talk farming with anyone. He enjoyed going to auctions and was an avid farm toy collector.

Russell served on numerous boards in the Hatton community throughout his lifetime. He enjoyed going to his grandkids’ activities and spending time with his wife, family, and friends.

He always liked checking out different eating establishments.

He is survived by his wife, Jean, of almost 61 years. He is also survived by his children; Rick (Lori) Pladson of Hatton, Clyde (Dawn) Pladson of Hatton, and Lori (Cory) Kritzberger of Portland, his grandchildren; Anne (Kameron) Collette, Kelsey Pladson (Zach Enger), Ryan Pladson, Trevor Pladson, Jacob (Brenna) Pladson, Reed Kritzberger, Cole Kritzberger, and Bryn Kritzberger, his great-grandson, Brody Collette, his sister, Ruby Brown, brother, James Pladson, sister-in-law, Judy Atkins, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Grace Erickson, brothers; Edward Pladson and Ray Pladson, and nephews; Harlan Pladson and Lyle Erickson.
