Thorman Stenmo

Thorman Stenmo, 84, of Hatton, ND passed away Friday, April 26, 2013, at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the Northwood Evangelical Lutheran Church, Northwood, ND. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 30th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the Bilden Funeral Home, Northwood, ND.
Orin Thorman Stenmo was born February 8, 1929, in Northwood, ND to Ole T. and Molly (Larson) Stenmo. He attended Washington School District 70, near Hatton, ND. In 1939, he had the honor of meeting Crown Prince Olav of Norway when he and his family entertained the prince at their farm.
On June 28, 1953, he married Shirley Ann Eken at St. John Lutheran Church in Hatton. They farmed in the Hatton area for 44 years.
Thorman served on the Northwood Township Board from 1973 to present. He was also a previous board member of the Northwood Deaconess Hospital and Nursing Home and the Northwood State Bank. As a member of the Northwood Evangelical Lutheran Church he served numerous terms on the church council.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at the family cabin on Lake Sallie. He always made sure breakfast included Mickey Mouse pancakes for the grandkids and their friends. Hunting, fishing, gardening, and driving his 4-wheeler around the farm were things he also enjoyed.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley; children: Terence Stenmo, Hatton, Todd Stenmo, Northwood, Nicole (Joel) Brown, Fisher, MN; grandchildren: Tera, Jenny, Jessica, Steven, Kelly, Chelsey, Zackary; and great-grandchildren: Cole, Alex, Connor, Nora, Audra.
Preceding him in death were his parents and son, Thomas Stenmo.
Interment will be held in St. John's Cemetery, Hatton, ND.
