Todd Tangen

Todd Tangen, 67, of Northwood, ND passed away Friday, November 11, 2016 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Northwood. A visitation will be held Tuesday, November 15, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the church.

Todd Scott Tangen was born February 6, 1949 in Northwood, ND to Vernon and Verna (Dahl) Tangen. He was raised on a farm and attended Loretta Rural School. Todd graduated from Northwood High School in 1967. Following high school, he attended the University of North Dakota and graduated in 1972 with a bachelor's degree in education. He was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha.
He taught at Boyden-Hall Community School in Iowa for four years and as a replacement teacher at Northwood Public School in the winter of 1982. On November 4, 1986, Todd married Linda Ott of rural Cooperstown, ND. He worked with the Grand Forks County ASCS office, Beaver Creek Ag. Service and the Northwood Equity Elevator Seed Plant. He also operated the family farm for 14 years. Todd served on the Northwood Equity Elevator Board of Directors, Call Committees and Church Council at West Union Church, master and secretary of Arcana Masonic Lodge in Northwood, Ken Shrine - Grand Forks, and served as the Loretta Township Supervisor for 12 years. In 1985, Todd became a nationally registered and North Dakota State Certified EMT. He was also a member of the Northwood Volunteer Fire Department for seven years and the Northwood Deaconess Hospital Volunteer Ambulance Squad for six years. Todd had just retired from working at the Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) bean plant as an agronomist for the past 22 years. He was also serving on the Northwood City Council, representing Ward III.

Survivor include his wife, Linda, Northwood; sons: Max (Tiffany) Tangen, Northwood and Tristan Tangen, Portland, ND; grandchildren: Layken and Reese; Aunt, Joyce Hagen; Uncle, Jim (Barb) Dahl, both of Northwood; niece, Chelta Hamilton and nephew, Austin Hamilton, both of Scottsdale, AZ.

Preceding him in death were his parents and sister, Nancy Tangen Hamilton.
