Thrine J. "Tootz" Bye, 97, of Hatton, North Dakota passed away Monday, July, 25 2011, at Hatton Prairie Village, Hatton, ND. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 30, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Hatton, ND. Visitation will be held Friday, July 29, 2011, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm a 7:00 pm prayer service at the Hatton Prairie Village Chapel, Hatton, ND. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Hatton Prairie Village.
Thrine "Tootz" Bye was born February 14, 1914 to Ed. S and Suzanne (Norum) Johnson of Hatton, North Dakota.
She attended rural school in Washington Township and graduated from Hatton High School.
She was employed for a number of years in Minneapolis, Minnesota working at Charlie's Exceptionale restaurant. While there she had the honor of serving actor Ronald Reagan of California who later became United States President.
During the WWII years she was employed at the Federal Cartridge Corp. located at New Brighton, Minnesota in the Final Visual Inspection Division.
She married Arnold Bye in November 1946 at Hatton, N.D. They were employed briefly in Minneapolis before returning to Hatton to farm in the Newburgh Township. They retired from farming in 1981, when they moved to Hatton to make their home. Arnold preceded her in death in 2004. She moved to Hatton Prairie Village in 2009. Thrine was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church and its WELCA.
Thrine Bye is survived by two sons: John (Jean) Bye of Fargo, N.D. and Gerald (Adele) Bye, Hatton, N.D.; four grandchildren: Jesse Bye, Kari (Ben) Saad, Tyler (Kristen) Bye, and Christian Bye; great-granddaughter Madison Bye; two nieces: Jean Pladson and Judy Atkins; and several cousins in America and Norway.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, Odin Johnson and Erling Johnson, and two sisters, Alpha Huus and Alma Rendall.
