Troy Frederick, 50, of Northwood, ND passed away Friday, November 19, 2021, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND after a short battle with melanoma skin cancer. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at 2:30 p.m. at Washington Lutheran Church, rural Northwood, ND. A visitation will be held Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. Following the service, a celebration of life will be held at the Northwood Community Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Troy Frederick Hockey Scholarship. Donations can be made out to Bravera Bank or Ice Storm Hockey and mailed to Bravera Bank, P.O. Box 319, Northwood, ND 58267.
Troy Allen Frederick was born August 10, 1971, in McVille to Robert and Sheila (Erickson) Frederick. He grew up in Pekin, ND before moving to Cavalier, ND. In 1989, Troy graduated from Warwick High School and attended North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, ND. He graduated with an electrician’s degree. He worked for Muth Electric in Watertown, SD and then IES in Grand Forks. On June 9, 2001, Troy married Rhonda Johnson in Grand Forks, ND. Troy and Rhonda lived in Grand Forks and Arvilla before moving to their current farm in rural Northwood. He worked for Steve Tveit Farms until the time of his death. Troy loved coaching Ice Storm Hockey in Northwood and raising alpacas on their family farm. He also enjoyed hunting and watching Nascar and the Denver Broncos.
Survivors include his wife, Rhonda, Northwood; children, Hunter and Harper; father and stepmother, Robert and Evonne Frederick, Lakota, ND; sisters: Michelle Madsen (Matt Pernat), Larimore, ND; Tricia (Justin) Nerison, McVille, ND; Kimberly (Perry) Palm, Fargo, ND; brother, Travis Frederick, Merles Inlet, SC; favorite boss and best friend, Steve Tveit. Troy is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and the Ice Storm Hockey family
Preceding him in death was his mother, Sheila Williams; grandparents: Gladys and Vernon Erickson, Carl and Isabelle Matson, Lawrence Frederick, and Ted and Hazel Matejcek.
