Twyla Evenson

Twyla Evenson, 86, of Northwood, ND and formerly of Bloomington, MN, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2019 at Northwood Deaconess Health Center in Northwood. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Ebenezer Free Lutheran Church in Northwood. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church.

Twyla Thingelstad was born February 25, 1933 in Northwood, ND to Edwin and Alice (Storlie) Thingelstad. She grew up in Northwood and graduated from Northwood High School. Twyla attended University of North Dakota, where she took classes for journalism. On December 31, 1964, Twyla married Douglas MacArthur Evenson in Grand Forks, ND. They lived in Grand Forks before moving to Bloomington, MN. Twyla also lived in Brooklyn Park and Plymouth, MN before moving to Northwood Deaconess Health Center in Northwood in May of 2018. She enjoyed painting, golfing, planting flowers, writing poetry and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her son, Mikel Evenson, Prescott, AZ; daughter, Jeanette Evenson, Plymouth, MN; grandchildren: Eugene (Loree) Gaikowski and their children: Carter, Nathan, and Madaline; Neil Gaikowski and his children: Aleshka and Austin; Darcy (Andy) Novak and their children: Andrew, Anthony, Alex, and Aiden; Amber (Quentin) Guck and their son, Asher; Terry Evenson; brother-in-law, Wallace Gylten; Twyla is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Douglas; and siblings: Arlayne, LeRoy (Mary Jane) and Lola (Bob).
