Violet Walsvik

Violet Walsvik, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend passed away surrounded by her family Friday evening, January 4, 2019 at Eventide of Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 11:00 am in the Northwood Evangelical Lutheran Church, Northwood ND. Visitation will be held Friday, January 11, 2019 from 4-7 pm with prayer service at 7:00 pm at the Bilden-Askew Funeral Home in Northwood. Her final resting place will be at St. John Cemetery by Hatton, ND at a later date.

Violet was born on December 17, 1927 to John and Anna (Pearson) Dahl near Cooperstown, ND. On June 15, 1952, she married Thilford Walsvik in Cooperstown. They celebrated 55 years of togetherness living on the family Centennial farm west of Hatton, ND in June 2007.

Violet was greatly loved by her husband and family. She was happiest when dancing with Thilford at the Sons of Norway. Violet and Thilford were members of Sons of Norway and active members of the Hatton and Northwood Senior Citizens. She was a member of the Northwood Evangelical Lutheran Church, Northwood ND.
Violet enjoyed traveling around our country and in Norway. HostFest and Morris Manitoba Stampede in Canada were special places they enjoyed repeatedly. Violet was a wonderful mother, mother in law, and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her children, many grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved visiting with all. Her family loved coming home for the holidays to enjoy time with her as well as appreciating her cooking. Lefsa, rommegrot, doughnuts, flatbread, and Swedish meatballs were favorites enjoyed by all.

Violet was an avid gardener resulting in many hours of canning. She spent many years doing ceramics. Her nativity scenes, which she made for all her children, are cherished and used every Christmas.

Violet is survived by her children: David Walsvik, Leeds ND; Daniel (Sue) Walsvik Hazen, ND; Ramona (Mikel) Huseby, Fallon, MT; Joel Walsvik, Verndale, MN: Jon (Barb) Walsvik, West Fargo, ND; brother, Norman (Lois) Dahl, West Fargo ND; sister in law, Francis Dahl, Cooperstown, ND and many nieces and nephews.
Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren are Matthew (Lacey) Walsvik, Ethan and Colston; JoAnna (Collin) Wahlund, Elanor, William, Violet, Gabriel, Peter, Laura; Bethany (Andrew) Mauch, Mason, Adlee, Lyla, Axel; Jon (Rachelle) Julian, Adam Walsvik; Tyrel Huseby; Heather, Benjamin (Tiffany) Elliot, Rebecca; Kristiana (Langdon) Collom: Alexander (Kirsten)Walsvik, Jotham Walsvik; Kylee,Tyler, and Jessica Walsvik.

Violet was preceded in death by her husband, Thilford (2008); parents, brothers: Simon, Kenneth, Clifford, Gerald, LeRoy; sister, Mary Ann.Larsen; granddaughter, Laura Walsvik and great granddaughter, Melanie Walsvik.
