Wallace Truman Ruud was born January 13, 1924 in Northwood, ND to Gotfred and Mabel (Burthwick) Ruud. He attended school at Lind 89 country school for 8 years and graduated from Northwood Public School in 1942.

Wally proudly served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946. He served during WWII as a Seaman First Class on the U.S.S. Trenton.

Wally met and fell in love with Patricia Kittock.  On May 18th, 1949, they were married in Northwood. While married, Wally farmed and did carpentry work.  They had two children, Debra and Ronn. He belonged to the VFW and was a life member of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.  Wally loved music and played in many bands throughout his life.  When he retired from farming, Wally kept himself busy golfing, playing bingo, playing in pool league, and playing cards for “2 bits”.  He also enjoyed hunting, gardening, oil painting, going to high school sporting events and eating meals at the Senior Citizens Center.  Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.  Wally was a fixture in his community always willing to lend a hand or a tell a joke.  He will be greatly missed by many.

Survivors include his grandchildren: Troy (Amy) Myron and their children: Brenden, Rylan and Carter; Trent (Tracy) Myron and their children: Karlee, Carson, Emery and Haley; brother, Donald Ruud, and many nieces and nephews.
