Wayne Johnson

Wayne L. Johnson, 67, of Sharon, ND passed away on May 4, 2013 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND surrounded by his loving family after a courageous eight month battle with ALS. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 8th, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Beaver Creek Lutheran Church, rural Hatton, ND. A visitation will be held Tuesday, May 7th, 2013 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 pm prayer service at the Bilden Funeral Home in Northwood.
Wayne was born August 19, 1945 at Northwood, ND to Norris and Clara (Beck) Johnson. He attended country school and then went to high school at Northwood Public School, graduating from there in in 1963. After graduation, he farmed on the family farm. He was drafted by the U.S. Army in 1969. He was in the army for two years and was stationed in Aschaffenburg, Germany for one of those years. Following the military, Wayne returned home and continued his passion of farming and ranching with his family. The farm was very important to him where he tended to dairy cows, stock cows, farming, mechanic work/fixing, welding and Vermeer Baler Sales. He married Mary Sondreal on November 24, 1972 at Crookston, MN.
Wayne spent many years serving as township assessor, was on the Beaver Creek Church cemetery committee and was also on the Northwood Oil Board. Things he enjoyed were collecting guns, hunting, camping, gun auctions, rodeos and demolition derbies. He loved spending time with his family, especially his three grandchildren.
Wayne always had a smile on his face and his positive outlook on life was evident to everyone he met. He loved visiting with people and made friends wherever he traveled. His big heart, caring nature, non-judgmental attitude and practical ways were respected by all his friends and family. He will be deeply missed by many.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Mary; daughters: Rendi (Shane) Johnson-Ebach, Northwood, ND, and Darci (Joe) Schettler, Killdeer, ND; grandchildren: Piper Ebach, Taylen and Ali Schettler; sisters: Verna Stave, Northwood, ND, Rose (Lynn) Teie, Thief River Falls, MN, Tammy (Paul) Hofer, Northwood, ND; Brothers: Keith (Becky) Johnson, Sharon, ND, Leslie (Marci) Johnson, Sharon, ND, Brian (Laurel) Johnson, Hatton, ND; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents and sister-in-law Patty Johnson.
